Direction for Your Life

So many people wander through life in search of the answer to some of life's questions. What is the true purpose of life? Why was I born? What happens after I die? Is there any hope or peace in this life?

Our direction in life can only come from a personal relationship with our Creator, the God of the Bible, and these questions are answered when we know him personally. How can you know him? Read these truths to find out how.
God created you.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. He created life as you and I know it. Plants, animals, and humans were created by God in the beginning. He created the first man and woman with a special purpose for life.

God loves you.

Have you ever stopped to consider there is a God Who knows who you are? The same God that created you loves you unconditionally. He created you in His image for a special purpose. He desires for you to know Him personally.

Every man is born with a nature to disobey God’s law.

There is one thing that has separated us from God and that is our disobedience to God’s law. God is righteous and holy therefore He has a law. Have you ever broken God’s law?

Answer each of these questions honestly.
  • Have you ever stolen anything once in your life regardless of its value?
  • Have you ever lied even once in your life?
  • Have you ever been jealous and wanted something someone else had?
  • Have you ever disobeyed your parent or guardian?
God’s law says thou shalt not steal, bear false witness, covet, or disobey your parents. This is only four of the ten commandments. Are you innocent or guilty? It is God’s law that we will be judged by.

The Bible declares,
“There is none righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10).

Breaking this law even one time means we are guilty of breaking the entire law. James 2:13 says, “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”

Sin is breaking God’s law. Romans 3:23 tells us, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Our sin separates us from God.
Sin carries the penalty of death.

Our sin must be paid for. The awful consequence of your sin is separation from God forever in the place the Bible calls Hell. Because your have broken God’s law, you are sentenced to die and spend an eternity separated from God there.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

Jesus Christ paid your sin debt.
God’s Word says in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God loves you so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for your sin.

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

Jesus Christ suffered your death on the cross, paying your sin debt in full. Christ took the punishment you deserve. He died, was buried, rose from the dead on the third day, and is alive today seated at the right hand of God the Father.

At this point you have to make a decision
Do you want to call on Jesus Christ to save you from the penalty of your sin?

Romans 10:9 & 13 tells us,
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If this is what you want to do then call out now from your heart to Him for salvation. You may want to say something like this to God:
  • Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I have broken your law and am a sinner. I deserve to die and spend an eternity in the place called Hell. I believe that Jesus died and rose again for me, and I am calling out to you now to save me from my sin. I ask you to forgive me for my sins and come into my life. Help me now to live for you. Amen.

If you have made this decision to call on Jesus Christ as your savior, you are saved from the penalty of breaking God’s law. God promises you eternal life and that you will be with Him for eternity when you die.

I John 5:13 assures us God’s promise,

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life.”
