Can all religions be true & lead to God?

By: Kyle Austin

In order to answer this question we need to ask this question first:

Are all religions the same?

A general knowledge of the major world religions tells us that most religions do have a common moral code of conduct of how to treat others. A close look at each of the religion’s major teachings reveals that these teachings are contradictory to each other. They disagree on virtually every major issue such as: the nature & person of God, salvation, sin, heaven, how a person gets to heaven, hell, and creation.

Here are a few examples of how to get to God & Heaven:

  • Islam- A person gets to heaven by obeying Allah sufficiently or the idea that their good must outweigh their bad. This is based on a person's works or performance in life. A person can guarantee their place in heaven through martyrdom or sacrificing their life for Allah.
  • Biblical Christianity- A person gets to heaven by believing on Jesus Christ by faith alone. A person must call on Him to receive the free gift of eternal life.
  • Hinduism- A person must break the repeated cycle of reincarnation by ridding themselves of bad karma or evil. A person does this by doing good deeds in life.

Also, Islam and Christianity both teach that there is only one God while Hindus have over a million gods. Each of these world religions plus the others disagree on their major teachings.

Since each religion has major teachings that contradict each other they cannot be true at the same time.

This is illogical and impossible. So based on each of the religion’s teachings, all religions cannot be true nor can they all lead to God.

Beliefs cannot change the truth no matter how sincere we are or how much we believe.

We may want to believe that all religions lead to God to ease our minds about all the people involved in other religions that do not lead to God but that is just not the case. I can believe with all any heart that 2+2=5 but that doesn’t change the truth that it is 4.

One writer said this,

“Contrary beliefs are possible, but contrary truths are not possible.

We can believe everything is true, but we cannot make everything true.”

If each religion teaches contradictory teachings then only one religion can be true or all religions are false.

The next logical question that comes is, "How do you know which religion is true?" Can I say that I have asked the same question. I did not grow up involved or taught in a particular religion. I had to examine the evidence. Based on the historical evidence and the evidence we see all around us, the Bible and Christianity match up with all the evidence with extreme accuracy beyond a reasonable doubt.

It is up to you to decide. But can I say this is one of the most important decisions you have to make. You and your eternal soul are at stake. Since all religions cannot all be true you must find the one that is true. As far as salvation is concerned, it is through Jesus Christ and accepting the free gift of salvation by calling upon Him. Have you done that? You can do that right now! If you would like more information on salvation in Jesus Christ click here.
